Glamping Extends Your Camping

Cold, wind, rain or pesky bugs doesn’t ruin camping anymore – just move your party inside.

Most American campers either don’t camp or don’t have fun camping if the weather isn’t perfect or it changes. We have watched from our windows many campers quitting during the day and at night and folding up their tents and heading home. That’s the time when everyone comes over to our tent and we get out the games, break out the hors d’oeuvres (snacks if your camping) and open another bottle of wine.

One of the biggest reasons I started buying inflatable tents with windows and started this website is because of a camping situation we experienced years ago. It was during Thanksgiving and we had just finished preparing and baking a turkey in a cardboard box (video link) and all the fixings that fed about 14 people. It was getting dark about 5:30 with the temperature quickly dropping into the low 40’s. Even sitting around the large campfire couldn’t keep us warm. Everyone retreated back to their tents. And with a chance of rain that night we all had to have the tents covered and sealed.

Covering and closing up your tent is what I call “cocooning”. We couldn’t see out and each of us just sat in the tent and stared at each other. Finally, we decided to go to bed around 8 pm. There just wasn’t much to do for my family. The fun, the camaraderie, the activities, the entertainment, the visiting with new friends, all came to a halt about 6 pm and sleeping about 8. The next day it was cold and misting. Everything I write about and everything on this site is to make camping, now glamping, more fun, exciting, more comfortable and convenient, no matter the temperature, rain or wind.
